After a few weeks of some scattered stormy weather, our beautiful home town put on its finest for the Up & Coming Swimwear Show yesterday afternoon for Gold Coast Fashion Week. And what a show it was!
Featuring eight incredibly talented designers from all over the country the guests and media arrived in droves to watch the stunning models strut their stuff down the catwalk. The first show to be completely sold out and with no standing room you could feel the excitement in the air.
The show opened with jazz singer Bec Whitehead and Liquidsilva performing their brand new single “Soft and Mellow”.
The first designer down the runway was LUCA which had the feel of the iconic 60’s and 70’s with a modern twist.
Next up was local label Vivacious, very fun and flirty and catering for the fuller busted gal.
The “Alannah Hill of Swimwear” Saucy Rose was up next – complete with ruffles, frills and bows, kittens and butterflies followed by Coco Riche with striking prints and unique cuts.
Halfway through the show and the quality of the entrants was staggering.
Another local favourite Glamorous Life showcased her gorgeous resort collection with frills and lace followed by Kezini featuring some fabulous monochrome pieces.
Brand new local label Molly & Polly showcased her very first collection which included the only male range shown as well as stretchwear which had a real Miami feel and last designer for the show was Sydney label Karla Spetic with her signature prints – absolutely exquisite.
All in all an incredible show with too many amazing pieces to choose from – definitely a lot of oohing and aahing.
The awards will be announced tonight so stay tuned…
