Gold Coast women to be transformed into living works of art.

Emergence – an extraordinary community event celebrating the strength and beauty of the female form, hosted by local artist Tracie Eaton on Friday, May 19. A fusion of art, comedy, music and business, the event will see Tracie unveil her own incredible body of work – which features herself as canvas across an astounding and deeply personal collection of 40 pieces, encompassing body art, photography and painting. Emergence will also feature a live showcase of body painting, with six brave female models laying bare their inhibitions to reflect the artist’s commitment to inspiring every woman to embrace their own unique beauty. Guest models, who will have their entire body painted on the evening, will include Swell Sculpture Festival director Natasha Edwards, Blank Magazine & GC Music Awards director Amanda Gorman, Self-Love Movement founder Alana Arvanitis, photographer Jade ReadPatty-Ann Waho and Susie Armsden. Different visual artists, including Dean Cogle, Kylie Findlay and Cheryl Hart, will work with the models throughout the evening to recreate Tracie’s own six complete bodies of work, each one representing unique moments, different life stages and a discovery of true self, all in brilliant colour and texture. Taking place at Sanctuary Cove InterContinental from 7pm, guests will also be treated to fabulous live entertainment on the night courtesy of international comedian, Fiona McGary, and popular band, Brown Suga. The Emergence showcase is the culmination of a creative journey spanning ten months and grew from Tracie’s resolve to foster a new connection, not only with her inner-self but also with her audience, by painting herself rather than a traditional canvas. With each session taking up to eight hours or more, the artist painted and then photographed her own body with the help of talented photographer Sharon Hawker. Tracie then printed each photograph onto a canvas to form the centrepiece of a thought-provoking painting, with each artwork set in a different and spectacular location around the Gold Coast, from the lush tranquillity of Tallebudgera Creek, to the coastal calm of The Spit. Tracie said Emergence highlighted the need to step beyond the comfort zone into a place where change can occur, creating a new self-awareness that precedes greater levels of achievement and fulfilment. “I think the most significant thing I have learnt through this artistic journey has been the beauty and power of vulnerability, and of allowing yourself just to be the person who you are, which is something that can be so difficult to do, but is incredibly empowering when it is achieved,” Tracie said. “If I could inspire somebody to just put themselves first, or to do the one thing they have wanted to do, but have been too fearful to act on, then the project has been worthwhile.” Tracie has partnered with charity Opportunity International Australia to drive the economic empowerment of women in disadvantaged communities, with sale of artworks on the night supporting global microfinance funding and education programs delivered by the charity. “Each piece sold on the evening will equate to the creation of one microbusiness within those programs,” she said. Emergence will be held at The Grange, Sanctuary Cove InterContinental, Sanctuary Cove from 6.30pm on Friday, May 19.
