Taylor Swift confirms Australia Dates of 1989 Tour

1989, global superstar Taylor Swift has confirmed the Australian leg of her massive The 1989 World Tour will visit Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in November/December 2015 with special guest Vance Joy. Notably, Swift will be the first female solo artist to play stadiums on back-to-back Australian tours, following the hugely successful The Red Tour of summer 2014, which garnered high praise from fans and critics alike: ‘This incredible visual aspect to her show only serves to add to Taylor’s innate storytelling abilities. At times you almost feel as if you have been transported to a crazy new world where the acrobatic storytellers of Cirque du Soleil would feel at home… You have to hand it to Taylor. Girl knows how to put on a show!’ – Take 40 ‘As the fireworks lit up the warm night air and Swift took her applause, the fans were left starstruck. Sorry, kids – you are never, ever, ever going to top that for a pop concert.’ – The West Australian With over 30 million albums sold and seven Grammy Awards to her name, Swift is one of the world’s most celebrated artists and the 1989 era is her biggest yet. ‘It’s the album every subsequent blockbuster must now reckon with.’ – Pretty Much Amazing ‘There is no indecision on 1989, it is pure, glittering pop from beginning to end’ – FasterLouder Countless records have been made and broken by the 24-year-old international superstar since the release of her fifth, and most celebrated, studio album 1989. Swift is the only artist in history to have three albums debut with more than a million copies sold in their first week, with 1989 joining fellow multi-platinum selling albums Speak Now (2010) and Red (2012). The album became Australia’s fastest-selling album of 2014 in less than four days and has topped the US album charts for the third week in a row. Lead single ‘Shake It Off’ and its successor ‘Blank Space’ have also earned Swift the dual achievements of being the only artist to have two #1 singles in the HOT 100 US charts in 2014. At the 2014 American Music Awards last month, Swift became the first ever recipient of the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, given to an artist who achieves a ground breaking feat or creates a landmark work. This prestigious recognition honoured Taylor as the only artist to ever sale over 1 million albums release week for her albums Speak Now, RED and 1989. The 1989 World Tour begins in Japan next May and includes 63 shows across eight countries and four continents. Click here to watch the tour trailer.
