Rock legend and Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Barnes has today been announced as the final act to headline a star-studded line-up for Surfers Paradise LIVE, held from May 3 to 6.
The free, family-friendly music festival cements Surfers Paradise’s reputation as one of Australia’s ultimate event destinations, transforming the event hub into a multistage street festival with the iconic Surfers Paradise beach as the unique gig backdrop.
Barnes will headline LIVE on Saturday, May 5 with fellow Australian rock icon Daryl Braithwaite, while one of Australia’s most gifted singer-songwriters Kate Ceberano will join the legendary Jon Stevens to headline the main stage on Sunday, May 6.
Known for his contribution to the music industry as the lead singer of iconic Australian rock band Cold Chisel and his extensive solo career, Barnes is one of the most popular and best-selling Australian artists of all time.
With a music career spanning 45 years, Barnes is best-known for his famous tracks Working Class Man, Lover Lover, Flame Trees, Khe Sanh, Cheap Wine, Good Times and When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.
An initiative of the Surfers Paradise Alliance (SPA), Surfers Paradise LIVE appeals to a variety of music tastes with several genres represented over the four days and nights of the festival.
High-energy Australian pop music group Justice Crew have also been confirmed in the star-studded line-up for Friday, May 4, along with 2013 X-Factor Australia winner Reece Mastin.
Aside from the headline acts on the main stages there will be plenty of smaller and intimate live music gigs happening at various venues through the Surfers Paradise entertainment precinct.
Surfers Paradise LIVE is a great opportunity for music lovers of all ages to enjoy the excitement and atmosphere of free live music playing in the streets and music venues of Surfers Paradise.
For the second year, Surfers Paradise Alliance has partnered with the Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs) to provide Gold Coast artists the opportunity to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
As a key component of the festival, the GCMAs will be held on Surfers Paradise beach on Thursday, May 3, where highly-esteemed Gold Coast musician Bobby Alu will entertain crowds on the LIVE stage.
