Maserati sells on day one of Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show

THE $400,000 high performance Maserati sports car that currently sits atop a $10 million superyacht was snapped up at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS).

The sleek Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale was sold to an anonymous buyer on day one of the Boat Show, which attracted immense interest after being crane-lifted onto the second deck level of the $10 million Horizon P110 Tri-Deck superyacht as part of Horizon Motor Yachts Australia’s display.

Principal dealer Greg Willims, of Maserati Brisbane, said the dealership was finalising arrangements for delivery to the new owner next week after the completion of SCIBS.

He said the team was hoping for more sales throughout the weekend, with the Boat Show running through to Sunday.

“We’ve had great interest in our three brands at the Show, particularly the Maserati, Bentley Coupes and Mulsanne,” he said.

Russell Wright, owner of Horizon Motor Yachts Australia said his sales staff had received plenty of enquiries on the P110 and its fellow display model, the PC60.

Managing director Mark Richards of Palm Beach Motor Yachts reported strong sales in the first two days of Boat Show having sold two Palm Beach 50’s for $1.6 million each.

“SCIBS has always been a great show for us and we’ve fielded strong enquiries on top of sales on both days of the Show so far,” he said.

Queensland Water Police’s tactical response vessels have proven popular with the crowds. Senior sergeant Lucas Young said more than 1000 people had taken the opportunity to climb on board the police vessels.

“There’s been a vast amount of interest in our black tactical boat. The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is the only boat show that we attend, which means it’s the only opportunity during the year for people to go on the police boats,” he said.

SCIBS, which is in its 25th year in 2013 runs from 9am to 5pm Thursday May 23 to Sunday May 26.

Tomorrow’s Show highlights include:

• Meet and greet opportunity with Gold Coast Suns players
• Cooking with My Kitchen Rules QLD contestants and runner’s up Jake and Elle
• High Tea on the High Seas – Women on Water cruise hosted by Kimberley Busteed
• 2012 X-Factor finalist Carmelo Munzone performs live
