Top 5 Things to Do in Sydney

Sydney is full of attractions, and it’s tough to decide what to prioritise when you only have a limited time in the city. Whether you are visiting for a week, a fortnight, a month, or even longer, these are the top 5 activities that you can’t miss out on. You haven’t really been to Sydney until you have crossed off everything on this list!

Sightsee In The Harbour
What tourist visit to Sydney is complete without some of the biggest sights? Head down to the Sydney Harbour and you will see the most iconic landmarks of the city. The Sydney Opera House is the obvious one, and you will want to get a shot of it behind you as well as going right in to explore. There’s also the Sydney Harbour Bridge to walk over, and you can see the Sydney Tower as well. This is all in addition to the Harbour itself, which offers boat tours and more fun in the water. You can even take a tall ship from the 1870s out into the open seas for a half-day or so if you want to get really adventurous!

Meet Some Marsupials
The wildlife in Australia is like nothing you will find anywhere else in the world, so don’t miss this chance to get up close and personal with some of the locals. The Taronga Zoo is widely considered the best in this part of Australia, and is filled with plenty of exotic animals from around the world as well as close to home. Your highlight will almost certainly be the cute and cuddly koalas which live here! There’s also a lot more to see, though, from giraffes and elephants to exotic birds and monkeys. It’s worth spending the whole day here to take your time and see everything that you want to.

Get On The Rocks

Be sure to head down to the historic area of The Rocks to see great architecture and get involved with local culture. This is a great place to just stroll around, as you will find plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars to occupy your time as well as the views. You can easily lose a couple of days exploring here, so plan accordingly. Don’t forget to pick up some souvenirs – you can go the tacky tourist route or get something more modern as you prefer! There are also regular markets – food stalls crop up on Fridays, while anything else you can think of is on sale on Saturdays and Sundays. This is a great opportunity to check out local crafts and brands.

Sunbathe On Bondi Beach

This beach is famous around the world as one of the best spots to lie on golden sand, or jump into the sea and surf. It’s a hugely popular spot, but this has done nothing to ruin the atmosphere or the locale. It’s one of the only beaches in the world which is close to a city, which makes it so convenient for anyone who wants to sunbathe as well as enjoy a city break! There are lots of suitable accommodations in the area, including apartment hotels that are just within walking distance to the Beach and local restaurants.

Roam The Royal Botanic Gardens

Finally, take a stroll in nature at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Large glasshouses encompass oasis-like gardens right in the middle of the city, with exotic plants from all over the world residing here. It’s a beautiful place to spend a day without spending any money, and you will find delights around every corner. It’s a more relaxed place to visit, too, without the hectic pace that you may find in other parts of the city. This makes it a welcome bit of peace in the middle of a busy holiday.

No matter how long you stay in Sydney, there is so much going on here that you will always be able to fill your time easily. That’s before we even mention the festivals and seasonal celebrations which light up the city on a regular basis.
