This year’s Magic Millions Carnival marks the fifth anniversary of Magic Millions co-owner Katie Page-Harvey’s initiative Magic Millions Racing Women, a cash bonus for female-owned or female-leased horses in the Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Since the inception of the bonus, registrations of female-owned horses have increased with an impressive 63 percent.
British equestrienne Zara Phillips MBE, who is the Patron of Magic Millions Racing Women, posed with Katie, Magic Millions spokesperson and racing commentator Francesca Cumani as well as Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne and Group 1 winning jockey Kathy O’Hara at Surfers Paradise Beach on the Gold Coast this morning.
Surfers Paradise then turned into a scenic racetrack as Australia’s top name jockeys including Michelle Payne, Kathy O’Hara and International Group One winning owner Sheikh Fahad Al-Thani galloped across the beach.
Later the same morning, Zara drew the Magic Millions Barrier Draw for the 2YO race, while her husband Magic Millions ambassador Mike Tindall drew the 3YO guineas.
Jeep Magic Millions Raceday takes place on Saturday January 14.
